Lancia has a recovery plan. Three new models and an electric future

In recent years, the Italian brand Lancia has sold a single model in a single market, and even that is a small miracle, as it was supposed to end completely in 2017. However, the legendary manufacturer was saved by the merger of FCA and PSA into the giant Stellantis conglomerate, which opted for massive investment. As part of them, Lancia has now presented a ten-year strategic plan.

The first point should be the premiere of a new version of the small Ypsilon hatchback, which will arrive in 2024 with a fully electrified range of engines. The smallest model of the brand will be about 4 meters long, will be offered exclusively in Europe and its purely electric version is still in play.

Two years later, Lancia intends to introduce its flagship, the 4.6-meter-long Aurelia crossover, with which it wants to enter the busiest market in Europe. Within the Stellantis conglomerate, Aurelia can also be expected to benefit from the Citroën C5 X’s group counterparts and the upcoming new version of the Opel Insignia, which will become a large SUV.

The expected rebirth of the Delta model will also take place in 2028, which will reportedly retain the features of the hatchback and “appeal to car enthusiasts across Europe”.

Lancia’s ten-year plan also includes a complete switch to electric propulsion, starting in 2026. The Aurelia and Delta models will probably only arrive as electric cars. Since 2028, Lancia intends to sell only electric cars.
