Lance Reddick, Prominent Actor, Passes Away – Headline News

Actor Lance Reddick, known for his role as Cedric Daniels on The Wire and for his participation in the film John Wick, has died. He was 60 years old. “Lance will be greatly missed,” said attorney Mii Hansen.

As a teenager growing up in Baltimore, according to CNN he wanted to be a musician, he once told The Guardian. He pursued acting as a means of supporting his young family and in hopes of laying the groundwork for a career in music.

He began getting roles in regional theaters, and at age 29 he applied – and was accepted – to Yale University to study acting, which he eventually completed.

He soon auditioned for David Simon, creator of The Wire, in New York. He didn’t get the role then, but he got to know Simon, and he finally cast him two years later in the role of police officer Cedric Daniels, which brought Reddick fame.

“I thought it would be a hit, but I didn’t think it would take this long to catch on or become such a phenomenon,” Reddick told the site The Guardian about the series The Wire.

Wire co-star Wendall Pierce remembered Reddick as “a man of great strength and grace.” “He was as talented a musician as he was an actor. Unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Good luck my friend. You left your mark here,” Pierce wrote.

After The Wire series, Reddick has a number of other titles to his credit, an unforgettable role in the series Lost and a regular role in the sci-fi series of the Fox station Fringe or also in the version of the series Resident Evil by Netflix.
