Jakarta –
Technology companies in the real estate sector, Lamuditerminate employment (layoffs) in several departments. This employee reduction is carried out to maximize growth and increase efficiency to achieve the company’s long-term business sustainability.
Lamudi Indonesia CEO Mart Polman said that making the decision to restructure was not easy, but it was important for the company to be able to continue to provide and develop the best offers for developers, banks and the 30,000 property agents who work together.
“With this, Lamudi can continue to provide competitive services as the leading technology property company in Indonesia,” said Mart BetweenTuesday (18/7/2023).
For employees affected by this restructuring, the company is committed to providing the best support, in the form of financial support, health that is more than required by applicable regulations and an out placement program to help employees find their next job.
The company made this layoff as of July 17 2023 or yesterday. However, management did not specify the number of employees affected by the layoffs.
In the last two years, the company has experienced significant growth and recorded a 185 percent increase in the number of paying subscribers, as well as an 88 percent increase in revenue.
The current optimization is aimed at enabling the company to maintain a high growth rate. Lamudi Indonesia itself has been established since February 2014 and was acquired by Dubizzle Group (formerly EMPG) in 2020.
In early 2022, Lamudi acquired OLX Indonesia’s property business where the two platforms together now serve more than 22 million visitors and receive more than 1.35 million new property listings each month. This acquisition also makes Lamudi the largest property technology company (proptech) in Indonesia.
Dismal conditions or tech winter are still being experienced by a number of startups in Indonesia from 2022 to 2023. A number of startups recorded as having terminated their employment or laid off including Xendit, Carsome, Shopee Indonesia, Grab, Tokocrypto, Zenius, JD.ID, Grab, GoTo, Ajaib, Sirclo, Glints, to Seeds.
