Lampung Health Service Chief Advises Public to Exercise Caution Against Marburg Virus Resembling DHF

MEDIALAMPUNG.CO.ID – The Lampung Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the Lampung Provincial Health Office asked the public to be vigilant about the Marburg virus.

Head of the Lampung Province Health Service (Kadiskes), dr. Hj. Reihana, M.Kes., said the public must be vigilant about the latest Marburg virus.

“The Marburg virus originated in Germany and this virus has the same symptoms as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). We must remain vigilant,” he expressed, Saturday (1/4).

“The symptoms are the same as DHF, namely fever, fatigue, weakness, bloody vomiting and diarrhea,” he explained.

He said the virus was very terrible and hoped it would not happen in Indonesia.

“All Lampung people are asked to be careful and stay alert,” he appealed.

He continued, the extraordinary incident of the Marburg virus occurred in Equatorial Guinea.

“Every time we have a disease we have to give a warning and have to be vigilant,” he explained.

Meanwhile, so far the government has not revoked the Covid-19 pandemic status and must remain vigilant

“Currently Indonesia is not yet endemic, because the WHO has also not revoked its pandemic status,” said Reihana.

Currently, the situation is heading towards endemic, but it is difficult to meet the endemic criteria.

“Because of several factors, especially now that Covid-19 cases are increasing in Jakarta, the same is true with Lampung,” said Reihana.
