Lampard has set a major winter transfer goal, he wants a West Ham midfielder

Lampard set Chelsea’s main transfer target for the January transfer period. According to the Athletic daily, the Blues want to bring West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in January. Only 21-year-old Rice worked in Chelsea as a youth, but he only peeked into the world of big football in West Ham, where he is one of the most important players in the team.

Despite his young age, Rice is no newcomer to the Premier League. He has been part of the first West Ham team since 2015 and since then he has won more than a hundred league matches in the Hammers jersey. Chelsea allegedly tried to reach his arrival this summer, but did not manage to catch up with Ric’s arrival before the transfer window closed.

According to Lampard Chelsea, the Athletic daily adds that Rice should help them play a dignified role in the elimination phase of the Champions League. Rice himself had been with Chelsea for quite some time. At Blues, the 21-year-old midfielder started playing football and left for the West Ham Academy with the vision of earlier promotion to the first team in 2014.

At first, however, he was not considered a megatalent and did not even believe that he could ever join the A-team of the English national team. His grandparents hail from Cork, Ireland, and Rice negotiated Irish citizenship to represent his grandparents’ homeland. It was not until February 2019 that Rice permanently decided on England, and instead of the Irish flag, the English one began to appear next to his name.

So far, he has played 117 matches for West Ham Rice, in which he scored 3 goals.
