The trail of the Lamborghini was lost in Eastern Europe (symbol image).
A woman was on trial in Zofingen on Thursday because she failed to return a Lamborghini that she had rented in Spreitenbach. She was convicted. Nevertheless, the insurance of the car rental company does not pay for the sports car, which has disappeared to this day.
About a year ago, a 42-year-old rented a yellow Lamborghini sports car from a dealer in Spreitbach. Actually, she should have brought the car back after two days, but she no longer appears. The Lamborghini is already on its way to Eastern Europe and has disappeared to this day.
The 42-year-old Serb, on the other hand, had to appear in court in Zofingen on Thursday, as ArgoviaToday reports. She was caught attempting the scam again, this time at a different dealer.
The court finally sentenced the woman to 33 months in prison and ten years’ expulsion from the country for fraud. But because she’s been in prison for 13 months, she only has two more months to serve.
Dealer stays at the expense
But the car is gone. A financial misery for dealer Raffaele Colacino, owner of Colacino Automobile: «It was not an easy time. We were down one car and had to get a new one to replace the stolen one. There was a lot of money at stake.” The damage amounts to around 250,000 francs.
And because the court convicted the accused not of theft but of fraud, the insurance company does not pay for the financial damage. “This is a heavy blow for us,” Raffaele Colacino told ArgoviaToday. He is therefore considering taking the decision to the Supreme Court. That was the only way he would have a chance of the insurance company paying for the Lamborghini after all.
