Lamborghini re-created the concept of the original Countach, which was scrapped

The Lamborghini Countach LP 500 concept was first introduced exactly 50 years ago at the Geneva Motor Show. On the occasion of this anniversary, but also a new model of the same name, the Italian carmaker decided to honor his memory.

At the time, this was the first sign that Lamborghini could follow the Miura model with another supercar. Unfortunately, Lamborghini produced only one car at the time, which after its premiere served as a model for the mass-produced Countach LP 400.

Subsequently, the car was used for tests and scrapped. But instead of permanent oblivion, the Countach LP 500 now has great glory. The historic Lamborghini division, called Polo Storico, has decided to rebuild the model, using state-of-the-art scanning technology, but also using old methods such as manual body blasting.

Fortunately, engineers could benefit from the fact that the concept was perfectly documented, written down and drawn. It was therefore enough to follow the instructions in the documentation and the car could be rebuilt. In total, the construction of the car took about 25 thousand hours.

It is interesting that the newly created Countach LP 500 has retained its original V12 engine under the hood. The color of the car is almost identical. Also noteworthy is the fact that Lamborghini persuaded tire manufacturer Pirelli to create a disposable set of Cinturato CN12 rubbers that meet 1971 specifications, but still use the current compound.

The novelty should receive the greatest attention at the famous Concorso d’Eleganza in the Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Italy.
