Lamborghini presents, in broad outline, its electrified future. The firm of Sant’Agata Bolognese thus unveils its future technical platform for its first HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle). The latter, responding to the code LB744, will develop more than 1,000 hp, thanks to its hybrid V12. Alone, the atmospheric V12 already develops no less than 825 hp and 725 Nm of torque.
The future Lamborghini Aventador, or its replacement depending on the choice that Lamborghini will make in the coming weeks, is therefore approaching. Identical to the Aventador, the LB744 will therefore be mainly powered by a 6.5 l atmospheric V12. This same V12 will be associated with three electric motors for an impressive cumulative power for the future hybrid Lamborghini.
The 6.5 l (825 hp) V12 of the Lamborghini LB744 will be mounted in the rear central position in a longitudinal manner. As for the new dual-clutch (8-speed) gearbox (pictured below), for the first time at Lamborghini, it will be placed behind the V12 in a transverse position, this time.
Let’s come to the three electric motors which will form, with the V12, the hybrid engine of the Lamborghini LB744. The first, with 110 kW of power and 150 Nm of torque, will be directly integrated into the gearbox announced as revolutionary by Lamborghini. The other two electric machines will be mounted, at the front, for each of the two wheels, the future “Lambo” HPEV will therefore have all-wheel drive. We also know the power of these two front motors: 110 kW and 350 Nm of torque for each of them.
Electrical energy will be supplied to the three electric motors using a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3.8 kWh and placed in place of a transmission tunnel. This “battery” can be recharged during braking phases but, above all via a charging cable, at a maximum power of 7 kW. The Lamborghini LB744 can therefore be considered a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). At the wheel, its driver will therefore be able to drive for a few kilometres, in 100% electric mode, without emitting the slightest gram of CO2.
Finally, we will not have to wait very long before knowing everything about the Lamborghini HPEV code LB744 because it should be unveiled, in the smallest details, before the end of March 2023. But before, click on “Play” below.
