Lamborghini Confirms Release of First Electric Car in 2028: What We Know So Far

The Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has officially confirmed that their first electric car will arrive at customers in 2028 and it is planned as a 2+2 GT class car or grand tourer. This information was not announced in a separate announcement, but was presented incidentally along with the news that the new Revuelto supercar has sold out two years ahead.

No further details about the upcoming machine are known yet. Lamborghini boss Stefan Winkelmann has previously said that this model will have more ground clearance than regular Lambos, but it won’t be as high as the Urus. He also explains that this future car will be much more suitable for everyday use than the Huracan or Revuelto, which are classic supercars, but it will not be a crossover.

The company’s management has stated that the car is not built on a platform completely developed by Lamborghini, but uses various goods from the stocks of the Volkswagen concern. The electric car still has to wait a while, but the Italian manufacturer promises two new plug-in hybrids that will replace the existing models. The flagship Revuelto also uses a plug-in hybrid power unit, combining the benefits of a V12 engine and an electric motor. It is known that the fully electric successor of the Urus will arrive in 2029.

Lamborghini is currently in a very good financial position to develop in various directions. Representatives of the automaker have revealed that the company earns so much that they do not need to cooperate with Audi on the development of new models by sharing costs. As you know, the Lamborghini Gallardo and Huracan were related to the first and second generation Audi R8. Audi is now discontinuing the production of this model.
