TRIBUNNEWS.COM, TOKYO – Variant Lambda coronavirus from Peru and Latin America has entered Japan the first time last july passed Haneda Bandara Airport Tokyo.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Japan, a woman in her thirties who arrived at Haneda Bandara Airport from Peru on July 20 confirmed to have been infected corona virus new with inspection at Haneda quarantine headquarters.
After that, as a result of the sample gene analysis, a “lambda strain” of a confirmed mutant virus in Peru was detected positive.
This is the first time infection with a lambda strain has been confirmed in Japan, entered quarantine.
According to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, the Lambda strain has spread mainly in South America since it was first reported in Peru last August.
And the WHO (World Health Organization) has classified it as a “famous mutant strain”.

On the other hand, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases has positioned it as a “well-known mutant strain” today, saying, “Although infectivity and resistance to vaccines may be stronger than conventional viruses, data are still limited”.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare it is difficult to evaluate Lambda’s current stock due to limited information.
“We want to continue to strengthen the monitoring system while sharing information with WHO, governments and experts,” he said.
