Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens unanimously voted MVP

Lamar Jackson is the 2019 MVP. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback was unanimously voted Most Valuable Player – only the second player in NFL history. As part of the NFL Honors ceremony, Kyler Murray and Michael Thomas awards, among others.

Jackson received all 50 votes from the experts Associated Press and besides Tom Brady (2010) is the only player in the history of the NFL who was unanimously voted MVP. At 22 years and 356 days at the end of the regular season, he is also the third youngest player to receive the MVP award.

In his first full season as quarterback for the Ravens and his second season in the NFL, the 32nd pick of the 2018 draft led the Ravens to 14 wins and two losses, making them the number one seed in the AFC. In the playoffs, however, the Divisional Round against the Tennessee Titans ended surprisingly early.

In the regular season Jackson recorded a total of 3,127 passing yards with a completion percentage of 66.1 percent and 36 touchdowns with only six interceptions. With an additional 1,206 rushing yards, he also broke Michael Vick’s 2006 record for the most rushing yards of a quarterback in one season.

In addition to the MVP Award, the Ravens had another award to celebrate: Head Coach John Harbaugh was voted Coach of the Year. The 57-year-old prevailed against 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan (14.5 votes) and Packers coach Matt LaFleur (3) with 27.5 votes.

It is the first Coach of the Year award for both Harbaugh and a Ravens coach. His offensive coordinator Greg Roman was also named Assistant Coach of the Year.
