Chennai: One of the most eagerly awaited films by fans is Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj starring Dalapathy Vijay. Fans are now looking forward to see if the film will belong to the Lokesh Kanagaraj universe known as LCU or not.
The film is being prepared on a pan-Indian level and stars many prominent actors in languages like Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. Now Lalit Kumar, one of the producers of Leo, has revealed a secret behind the film
He was speaking at Confederation of Indian Industry’s CII Dakshin 2023 held in Chennai. Lalith Kumar said that initially Dalapathy Vijay was not very interested in making Leo a pan-Indian film, but later he and director Lokesh Kanakaraj forced him to change his mind.
“Initially Vijay was not interested in making Leo a pan-Indian film, he told us that he would only make a film for people who love Tamil cinema, but later he agreed to make Leo a pan-Indian film,” said Lalit Kumar.
At the same time, he said, it is not possible to make a pan-Indian film by lining up stars from all language films. “We chose Sanjay Dutt because we all felt he would be perfect for the script. That’s how it all happened. Everything should be organic and above all the content of the film should have the capacity to work across borders,’ he said.
Promotions are important for films, he added. He said that the producers should know how to take the film to other areas properly and have a clear understanding of positioning it for the all-India audience at the initial stage.
