Between its cool climate, spectacular landscapes and its walls painted like handicrafts, the children of La Palma since this morning have been enjoying something they had been looking forward to: the inauguration of the socio-sports school of the program promoted by the National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (INDES) and the LaLiga Foundation.
«We are completing the seventh inauguration in the department of Chalatenango, we had the first in San Fernando; the second in Name of Jesus; the third, Comalapa; fourth, El Paraíso; the fifth in Arcatao, the sixth was yesterday in Tejutla and now that we are with the seventh, “said Joel Arnulfo Serrano, LaLiga departmental delegate and INDES coach.
In 1984, the city served as the setting for the first dialogues and peace talks between the guerrillas and the Government, which today has a program that is part of Phase 2 of the Territorial Control Plan, which has sport as one of its main components. , and seeks to promote initiatives aimed at inclusion, job placement, education in values, violence prevention and entrepreneurship.
“We are proud that this program has reached our beloved and beautiful city of La Palma”, said Moisés Erroa, monitor of the sports academy, who added that “we are very happy and very grateful for the inauguration of this project, whose importance lies in the values to win, such as equality, respect, teamwork, fair play and solidarity.
With the inauguration this afternoon of the social sports school in Nueva Guadalupe, San Miguel, this week 59 social sports academies are completed in operation, waiting for another eight to reach the 67 programmed in the first year of the Program.
“Thanks to this program you can have many more opportunities than you can here in El Salvador,” said Juan Diego Menjívar, 15, one of the members of the school.
LaLiga, Valores y Oportunidad seeks to benefit 26,200 children, between the ages of 9 and 16, through the Sports Initiation Schools in the 262 municipalities of the country.
