LaLiga to impose salary restrictions on clubs in the 2020/2021 season. Barcelona most affected by this regulation, while Real Madrid has the highest salary cap.
Pandemic COVID-19 making LaLiga clubs experience a financial crisis. This happened because the club did not get income from match tickets after the match was held without spectators since last June.
LaLiga parties are trying to take concrete steps so that this crisis does not present bigger problems to the club. They imposed a salary limiting rule in the 2020/2021 season.
“We have made changes in three parts of our financial control rules and in our regulations and laws because of COVID-19,” said José Guerra, Director General LaLiga quoted from AS.
“This is an unexpected impact and we have to adapt so the club can adjust. The sanctions have also been changed. We need time to continue to adjust to this situation,” he explained.
Salary restrictions for one club from another will be different. This is because every club has a different salary budget.
Barcelona will be the team that must make the biggest salary cuts related to this regulation. The Blaugrana have a limited salary budget of 382,717 million euros for the 2020/2021 season. Given that, they were hit by a severe financial crisis.
This amount is so far apart from Barcelona’s spending on wages last season which amounted to 671.43 million. El Barca is the team with the largest salary expenditure in LaLiga last season.
Real Madrid are in better shape than Barcelona. Although, Los Blancos are also certain to have to reduce their wage spending this season.
El Real has the highest salary cap in the 2020/2021 LaLiga of 468.529 million euros. Lower than Madrid’s wage spending last season which was 641.05 million euros.
City rivals Madrid, Atletico Madrid have a salary limit of 252.72 for the 2020/2021 LaLiga season. Meanwhile, the team with the lowest salary limit at LaLiga this season is Elche with 34.6 million euros.
