LaLiga flatly rejected the proposal of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to change the format. Operator Spanish League it refuses to even just consider.
RFEF President Luis Rubiales proposed that the LaLiga format be changed, with fewer matches. He also has the idea of holding a number of matches abroad.
The proposal was vehemently rejected by the President of LaLiga Javier Tebas. Tebas was even reluctant to just sit down and discuss the idea.
“LaLiga will not consider any changes to the format of the competition, which has been successful in recent years. To make or even consider any modifications would be an irresponsible move,” he said. Javier Tebas quoted Brand.
“That will trigger uncertainty for other sports and non-professional football, which is LaLiga has contributed 125 million euros per season,” he continued.
LaLiga, like the other three top European competitions such as the Premier League, Serie A and Ligue 1, followed by 20 teams. Bundesliga being the only 18 teams participated, so it has a shorter span and a looser competition schedule.
The looser schedule is advantageous for the players because of the better recovery time. This reduces the risk of injury.
