LaLiga has extended its broadcasting partnership with pay-TV broadcaster Premier Sports in the UK and Ireland for a further three years.
After signing their first three-year deal with the Spanish elite league in 2019, Premier Sports will keep their LaLiga rights deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Matches will be broadcast across Premier Sports’ range of linear channels and its direct-to-consumer (DTC) platform. The new deal also means that LaLiga’s in-house channel, LaLiga TV, will continue to be made available on Amazon’s Prime Video channels as well as the Premier Sports Player service.
In 2019, the commercial ITV network agreed an agreement to broadcast a small number of LaLiga games on its free-to-air channel (FTA) and this could be reconsidered. Premier Sports said they would provide “further details on the distribution of LaLiga programs” ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season in August.
“Since 2019, Premier Sports and LaLiga have worked hand in hand to actively promote Spanish football and we have come to appreciate the deep-rooted passion that makes LaLiga the most popular foreign league on these shores,” said Richard SweeneyManaging Director of Premier Sports.
“With the recent acquisition of rights to the Uefa Nations League and Euro 2024 qualifiers, we continue to position Premier Sports as the premier destination for football fans in the UK and Ireland.”
Melcior SolerAudiovisual Director of LaLiga, added: “Over the past three years, LaLiga has reached UK and Irish viewers through a unique distribution strategy developed in partnership with Premier Sports.
“We look forward to further renewing our offering for the UK and Irish markets so that spectators everywhere can enjoy the best that Spanish football has to offer.”
