Lale Gül, Nikkie de Jager and other ‘stars’ have lunch with the royal couple

A group of 26 famous and less famous people had lunch with the royal couple. Writer Lale Gül and presenter Nikkie de Jager were among the group that was put in the spotlight at Noordeinde Palace for a special achievement.

Gül won the NS Audience Award last year for her book I’m going to live† De Jager received the Televizier Prize for best TV presenter. Other prize winners from sectors such as art, culture, education, media, science, sport, administration and business were also invited to the so-called ‘excellent lunch’.

Teachers and skaters

For example, skaters Thomas Krol, Xandra Velzeboer and Antoinette de Jong were present. NOS weather forecaster Gerrit Hiemstra, winner of the Machiavelli Prize 2021, was also there, as was alderman Esmah Lahlah van Tilburg, the Best Local Administrator 2021. And the Teachers of the Year 2021 in primary, secondary, special education and senior secondary vocational education.

Lunch is every six months. As usual, nothing has been disclosed about what has been discussed: interlocutors of the king are expected not to reveal anything about their exchange of views with him.
