Laima Vaikule, a Latvian singer and inspirer of the international music festival “Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala”, has stated that due to the restrictions in force in Latvia and current regulations concerning public events, the festival will be postponed to the summer of 2022.
“Dear friends! Today is the time for me to tell you that our meeting has been postponed to next year. Yesterday we celebrated Maxim Galkin’s birthday, where it was so much fun, and I think, Lord, we will have it too – we will all be able to meet, we will be able to listen to songs and laugh, it will be fun, but no. According to the organizers, “Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala” has many different obstacles that prevent the organization of an ambitious international festival at the level of large-scale cultural events, so relocating the festival was the only possible decision.
“Unfortunately, today we do not have clear answers to the question that awaits us tomorrow. Various rules and restrictions are approved by the government each week. The Latvian border is still not fully open, and many ticket holders who are citizens of the CIS countries will simply not be able to attend the festival. All this makes us very sad.
We are not ready to hold an event in a situation where we cannot guarantee anything. Laima Vaikule wants full-fledged concerts and the typical atmosphere of the festival and does not want to disappoint the audience. We want Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala to maintain its prestige and level in accordance with a large international festival.
We will use the time to prepare for the festival, so that next year each of our visitors will have the best impressions of “Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala”.
