The clocks continue to turn, one traditional moment replacing the previous one. The nine-song album “Laikarati” of the ethnic group “Ogas” is dedicated to these important moments in our traditional culture.

Realizing that Christmas is near, the disc starts with songs dedicated to this time, but neither Easter, Michaelmas and Mārtiņi, nor St. John’s are left out.

One of the captains of “Ogu” is the captain of “Laimas muzykantu” Artūrs Uškāns, the main singers of the annual customs are Igeta Ozoliņa, Ilze Jurjāne-Lapkovska and Diānas Logina, while Dace Melbārde is a special guest. “Strong Wives” also features, and the whole thing sounds like a solid album of contemporary ethno music.

Saxophonist Tom Rudzinski’s album “ABYSS”

Jazz saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis released his quintet’s album “ABYSS”. It has been withheld jazz fusion in stylistics, which is manifested in 13 compositions. The music heard in the album was made in Berlin, and the recording features other musicians of the European jazz scene alongside Tom – Igor Osipov (Ukraine), Povel Wiedestrand (Sweden), Tom Berkman (Austria), Fabien Resch (Germany) and vocalist Mete Nadja Hansen (Denmark). The album will be presented to the public of Riga on November 23 at 20:00 at the cultural space “Tu jau zini kur” in the Tallinn quarter, with the participation of vocalist Kristīna Cīrulei and the Ventspils Big Band and JVLMA brass band, as well as the Danish electro-jazz rock trio “Kemaca Kinetic”.

The group “Kautkaili”, whose members – Kristīne Pāže, Didzis Bardo and Krists Krūskops – call their musical style nostalgic pop, and their debut album – a post-therapeutic relationship observation story about themselves and fellow human beings, will release their first album “Personas kodos” also for us as a society, inviting us to explore and accept our depths. “Kautkaili” fuses Latvian alternative pop music and worldly soul music of the 1990s in the 11 songs of their debut album, with a special emphasis on Kristīne Pāže’s vocals and unusual melodies. The album presentation concert will take place in the cultural space “M/Darbnīca” on November 24 at 9 p.m.

Contemporary jazz selection “Live at the M/Workshop, Vol. 1”

This is a unique project in our jazz environment – ​​a compilation of concert recordings made on analog tapes, which includes original works by 13 Latvian jazz artists and some foreign colleagues. The recordings were made last year in the leading Riga jazz concert venue “M/Darbnīca”, released on double vinyl and offer an insight into current jazz of various styles in Latvia. Here is post-bop and neo-bopspiritual and electric jazz, experimental jazz and avant-garde, funk a bed bluegrass. This is the first selection in the “Jersika Records” catalog, but judging by “Vol. 1” in the title, not the last. The selection “Live at the M/Darbnīca, Vol. 1” will be presented on November 25 in the cultural space “M/Darbnīca” at 5 p.m.
