Amiens talent Jack Lahne, 20, started the season with plenty of playing time and two hits, but was outside the squad in the French second division at the end of last year. The striker has not come into play in the last seven league matches, but got the chance again on January 2.
The BP-trained striker then accounted for a goal and an assist in the victory against Linas-Montlhéry after a penalty in the fourth round of the French Cup.
Lahne now says that he enjoyed being back on the field again.
– It was very funny. It was a very difficult match to play, as it can swing a lot in both directions in a cup match. You do not know what is happening, so it was an extremely fun match. They also had a lot of supporters, so it was fun, he says to Fotbollskanalen.
The 20-year-old was not allowed to face a penalty, but believed in his teammates in the decision.
– I was nervous, but I fully believed in our goalkeeper and those who put penalties. I knew we would deliver in the end, he says.
Lahne now hopes that the points in the cup will lead to more playing time in the future.
– It was extremely fun. Even though it was a cup match, I did not take it for granted that I would start or play as much as I did (90 minutes). I also think I took the chance. I fight just as hard whether it’s a cup or league match.
The striker believes that the short playing time lately is related to the competitive situation in the team. Lahne currently competes with former Djurgården striker Aliou Badji, loaned Nantes striker Abdoul Kader Bamba and Bundesliga-qualified striker Tolu Arokodare.
– We have a good competitive situation, at the same time as we changed formation when I was a bit injured. After that we started to win and then it became difficult for me to get back to the situation I had before, especially due to the fact that we have extremely good strikers.
Lahne has instead run hard during training to get more playing time.
– That’s what you have to do. You can not just be sad or disappointed that you are not allowed to play. You have to keep fighting. The chance will come in the end if you work for it. It’s about being prepared and taking the chance when it comes.
The Swede, who signed for Amiens in 2019, has in recent years been on loan at Örebro SK and BK Häcken to get more playing time. The 20-year-old knows that there is interest, they have full focus on taking a place in the French second division team.
– I’ve heard of some interest, but I do not think much about it. I think more about the next match. I focus as much as possible on it, he says and continues.
– I’m happy about my situation here. It’s the best situation I’ve had in Amiens in three years. I also feel good mentally and feel good at home. I feel good both on and off the field. Football is also good, so I do not have much thought about it. If it happens, it will happen. I focus mostly on the next match and the next training.
Lahne is listed this season for three goals and an assist in twelve games in France. Amiens is ranked 17th in the French second division.
