This is to be expected, even if there are still uncertainties, said Lagarde in an interview with the French newspaper “Le Journal du Dimanche”. “To be very clear: the economy will not return to pre-pandemic levels before mid-2022.”
In order for the consequences of the corona pandemic to be cushioned, it is important that the EU’s reconstruction fund is ratified quickly, said Lagarde. Last year the EU countries agreed on an aid program with a volume of 750 billion euros.
