Catherine Testorf, InSight Artspace: “It is very important that art is known by many people. In fact, many are still intimidated by the art world and the advantage of the Affordable Art Fair is that people know that the prices are affordable and they feel comfortable walking around in a stand to another. I opened my first gallery in 2012 with the aim of allowing European artists to be exhibited in New York, where it has always been very difficult. I only work with women artists, firstly because I am a woman myself, and because I find that they express their feelings and frustrations particularly well.”

Muriel Guépin, Muriel Guépin Gallery: “What sets this Art Fair apart from others is that we see visitors here who really want to buy a work to decorate their interior.”
Seven artists were selected by Muriel Guépin, with a fairly eclectic style ranging from figurative to abstract and geometric expressions. The textures themselves are diverse, with wood, textiles, ceramics or collages. The price range is from $1400 to $8800.

Nicolas Auvray, Galerie l’Atelier: “Coming to New York 19 years ago as a senior executive of a corporate group, having always done photography, I wanted to open a cooperative gallery with other artists, then in the end I exhibited my own work. black and white photographer and ended up opening a gallery. Today I have around forty artists in a gallery in Chelsea, many of them French-speaking. Regarding the choice of our artists, many work on the theme of nature, either in an abstract or figurative way, and some of them are more focused on the theme of the human body. The point of the Affordable Art Fair is to expose emerging talents that need to be shown.”

Catherine Bombard, Desire for Art: “We have been participating in this Art Fair since 2007 and we really like its principle. We generally represent between six and eight artists on each of our stands. The first prices are 750 dollars and go up to 10,000 dollars for the highest. Our artists are experienced and use different types of support, textile, metal or others. 40% of our artists live in France, but a majority are international artists.”

Emmanuelle Grelier, Emmanuelle G. Contemporary Art: “I am a French woman based in New York, and exhibiting at this Art Fair makes sense since this event takes place in my city. Furthermore, unlike a gallery where we wait for the client, in an exhibition like this, clients come directly to us and in large numbers. There are 3000 visitors per day. We see both young collectors who have a budget, and also more experienced collectors who come to the Affordable Art Fair to find the little treasure they are looking for at an affordable price. The average price at my stand today is around $5,000, so a little above what we see at this exhibition, but nevertheless it works well. I expose a lot of women. I like the artists I exhibit to be different, either by the technique used or by the message they transmit.”
