/ world today news/ The Southern European gas pipeline for the supply of Russian gas from Turkey to Central Europe is a priority for Greece and Athens must continue its implementation, regardless of the pressure and obstacles from the European Union, said the former Minister of Energy of Greece Panagiotis Lafazanis on the inauguration ceremony of his successor Panos Skourletis.
“We made a lot of efforts to sign, despite pressure and opposition, an agreement with Russia on the Southern European gas pipeline from the border of Turkey to Central Europe. Greece can walk a new path with an independent energy policy,” Lafazanis said.
He noted that “the European Union is exerting pressure and is currently trying to stop the project for the Southern European gas pipeline and is preventing its implementation.” Lafazanis called on the new leadership of the ministry to continue the work on the construction of the gas pipeline on Greek territory.
