Yet only until the beginning of next year we will be able to do Sunday shopping in some Lidlach, Biedronki, Żabki or a dozen other retail chains.
From the moment the new regulations come into force, only shops that operate on “postal” activities will be able to open they record at least 40 percent. monthly income from retail sales. The vast majority of stores do not meet this condition.
This means that stores have the last three months to prepare for the tightening of the trade ban. From the moment of publication in the Journal of Laws, three months will start to count. Except for the exception, retail chains will benefit only until the end of January. But it is a good solution for them anyway, because the entire fourth quarter is a harvest for the chain. So they will still have time to earn before the law prohibits them from closing their facilities on Sundays.

It is this fact that Biedronka wants to make the most of. According to the news website Wiadomościhandlowe.pl, the chain plans to open many more stores on Sundays. Until now, it was approx. 1 thousand. with 3 thousand outlets across the country.
“The portal serwisoscihandlowe.pl has confirmed the information about the increase in the number of open Biedronka discount stores in four sources; it also saw copies of the e-mails received by the district managers and stores, concerning the January changes. The news reached employees from various regions of Poland, from smaller and larger cities, which suggests that the scale of the operation will be noticeable” – we read on the site. However, the network has not yet confirmed this information.
“Some e-mails contain information about the planned opening of all Biedronki in a given city / region on all January Sundays. One of our interlocutors – a trade unionist – goes a step further and claims that discounters may be launched in January … all over the country” – writes the industry portal.
However, he quickly explains that all Biedronki are unlikely to open. In some places it is unprofitable, and besides, some branches are franchises and partner points.
