On Wednesday, Lady Gaga unexpectedly announced that her album “Harlequin”, which accompanies the new film with her participation – “Joker: Folie a Deux”, will be released on September 27. Polish fans were particularly electrified by the vinyl edition of the album, because on its back there was a photo showing a demolished room decorated with Jan Matejko’s painting “Stańczyk”. “Shock: we thought he was going to the Louvre, but instead he appeared on Lady Gaga’s album. (…) Of course, we know that there is only one Joker!” – employees of the National Museum in Warsaw commented on the matter.

It’s hard to say what prompted the artist to use this Polish accent. She visited our country in 2010, giving an unforgettable show at Ergo Arena. During her visit to Poland, did the artist also visit Warsaw and the National Museum, whose collection has included Jan Matejko’s painting since 1924?

The back of the vinyl cover of the album undoubtedly caused a great stir among the artist’s fans, who asked with interest about the work of the Polish painter. Stańczyk’s motif in Lady Gaga’s work was also a surprise to the employees of the National Museum in Warsaw.

“Shock: we thought he was going to the Louvre, but instead he appeared on Lady Gaga’s album. Our beloved Stańczyk will soon leave the Museum building and set off on a journey to Paris, where he will be exhibited at the Figures of the fool exhibition in the Louvre. Vigilant fans of Jan Matejko noticed that the star of the museum collection appeared on the cover of Lady Gaga’s Harlequin album. The album accompanies the upcoming premiere of the film Joker: Folie a Deux. Of course, we know that there is only one Joker! – The National Museum said in a post posted on Faceook.

It was added that this is not Stańczyk’s debut in pop culture. “Let us remind you that he also appeared in the series What We Do in the Shadows as the chairman of the Vampire Council, Padduk the Deranged.”

Those who were inspired by the cover of the vinyl edition of “Harlequin” to see “Stańczyk” up close will have the opportunity to do so in February. Then the painting will return to the capital museum. (PAP Life)
