Motor.ru reports this. It is assumed that the engine for the Niva will be built on the basis of the presented 1.8 Evo unit for the Lada Vesta. The Evo prefix means deep modernization with adaptation to the Chinese CVT. The engine uses 25 new components, AvtoVAZ representatives said.
The 1.8 engine for the classic Niva will develop 90 hp. Now the regular Niva Travel and Niva Legend are equipped with a 1.7 engine with a power of 83 hp, and the 16-valve 1.8 on the Niva Sport produces 122 hp.
In December, AvtoVAZ will release a batch of 25 Lada Vesta cars with 1.8 and a CVT for factory needs. In January, mass production of such engines will begin with a gradual increase in volumes, and at the end of 2024, the production of Vesta with a 1.8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission will begin.
