Russian automaker AvtoVAZ is also entering the world of electric cars. This is shown by the e-Largus model, which the automaker itself revealed – albeit in a rather curious way. She attached his photo without any blurring to the press release about the news in her strategy.

The Largus is basically a modified Dacia Logan MCV – the Lada brand and the AvtoVAZ carmaker that makes the Lady were part of the Renault group portfolio, as was Dacia, before Renault left Russia a few months ago – and in its current form is on sale from 2021. Under the hood, it has conventional drive train.

The carmaker has so far only disclosed that it will be produced at the plant in Izhevsk about the electric version called e-Largus, which, according to available information, is to be available as a commercial car as well as a passenger car. Details of this project are to be presented later, according to the press release.

Spanish website Motor.es reports that the e-Largus will be available with different ranges per charge, which we can read as different traction battery sizes. It goes on to say that the car is due to start testing in 2023, and estimates the start of series production in 2024.

The Russian website Naked Science reports that the van (van) will carry up to 800 kg of cargo, and there will be a passenger version with five and seven seats. According to him, the range should be around 250 km per charge, but without specifying according to which measuring cycle it should be.

He also writes that in addition to the space under the rear seats, part of the battery cells will also be located under the front hood of the car near the electric motor; so the drive will be front. Such placement of the batteries could be dangerous in the event of an accident if the impact were so strong that the cells were damaged. In this case, there is a risk of a short circuit and a difficult-to-extinguish fire.

For now, there is no information available about the price of the car or about possible importation to the Czech Republic.
