Production of the iconic Russian Lada car has been halted as Western sanctions have deprived the parent company of the parts and consumables it needs to make cars. Thousands of workers have been put on leave, Marketwatch reported.
However, according to Russian media, the suspension is temporary and will be restored in the coming days.
In Soviet times, Lada’s parent company, AvtoVAZ, built a giant factory on the banks of the Volga River.
