Lada Launches Its Revamped Vesta Sedan in Russia, the Aura, for Public Sale
After a series of ceremonies and pre-sales to government agencies, the much-anticipated Lada Aura is finally hitting dealerships across Russia. Starting November 30th, eager customers can order the stretched Vesta-based sedan from any authorized Lada dealer.
While initial deliveries will be concentrated in Moscow and St. Petersburg, with five dealerships in each city receiving the first batch, the automaker plans to expand the Aura’s reach across the country gradually.
The Aura is essentially an elongated version of the popular Vesta, boasting an impressive 245 mm (9.6 inches) increase in wheelbase, stretching it to a total of 2,885 mm (113.6 inches). This translates to a more spacious interior, particularly beneficial for rear passengers. "With Aura we already are met. In fact, this is an extended Vesta:…" stated the automaker, highlighting the Aura’s close relationship to its predecessor.
But the Aura isn’t just about added length. Lada has made improvements to the ride experience as well, promising enhanced soundproofing and a more comfortable suspension setup.
Under the hood, the Aura packs a solitary engine option: a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine generating 122 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque. This powerplant is mated to a CVT transmission sourced from China. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph is estimated at 12.5 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 175 km/h (108.7 mph).
Commenting on its capabilities, the Lada statement added:
"The stated acceleration time to 100 km/h is 12.5 s, the top speed is 175 km/h."
Buyers can choose between two well-equipped trim levels: Premier and Standard. The base Premier trim comes loaded with safety features like four airbags and electronic stability control (ESP), along with creature comforts like rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, integrated seat covers, heated front seats, air conditioning, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The top-of-the-line Standard trim further elevates the experience with luxurious touches like genuine leather seats, heated rear seats, and a larger 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen integrated with Yandex services.
Pricing for the Lada Aura starts at 2,599,000 rubles (approximately $34,900 USD) for the Premier trim and jumps to 2,799,000 rubles (around $37,500 USD) for the fully loaded Standard trim. Metallic paint options, available in silver or brown, will set customers back an additional 15,000 rubles (roughly $200 USD)
For its global ambitions, Russia needs automakers like Lada to not
only focus on domestic demand but also aim for export markets.
In an effort to meet the anticipated demand, AVTOVAZ has ramped up production of the Aura, aiming to build 76 cars per day by December.
