Lack of vaccines for the first dose must be resolved quickly, says researcher

The lack of immunizations against Covid-19 that made seven capitals suspend vaccination with the first dose across the country should be resolved quickly, assesses pulmonologist Margareth Dalcomo, a researcher at Fiocruz. In an interview with CNN on Saturday night (24), she stressed that the biggest concern should be with the Delta variant.

“I do not think that this scenario, by itself, is capable of aggravating the epidemic in Brazil. It is a very temporary thing, which must be resolved in the short term. The Delta variant, on the other hand, is a reality,” he stated.

Dalcomo advocated that more vaccines be destined for places with high rates of transmission of the Delta variant. “It would be a measure, in terms of public health, temporary, punctual and defensible,” he said.
