Minneapolis police officers complain about the lack of support for the racism protests. At least seven have now resigned. More could follow.

New York – At least seven Minneapolis police officers have resigned on allegations of lack of support from the police and city government to protests over the death of George Floyd. Another seven officials are in the process of resigning.
Current and former officials told the Star Tribune newspaper that police officers were angry about Mayor Jacob Frey’s decision to abandon a police station during the protests. Protesters set fire to the precinct after officials left.

Protesters have also thrown stones at officials and offered insults against them. Numerous officers and demonstrators have been injured. The state of Minnesota has opened a civil rights investigation with the police department.
US MP Ilhan Omar told CNN on Sunday that the police department was “lazy to the root”.
