Lack of Sleep More Dangerous Than Poor Diet for Type 2 Diabetes, Swedish Study Finds

Even eating right won’t help

Swedish scientists from Uppsala University conducted a study to find out how lack of sleep affects the occurrence of serious health problems, in particular type 2 diabetes.

Previously, researchers have proven that people who sleep too little increase their risk of developing diabetes. However, it was indicated that the situation can be corrected with proper nutrition, writes JAMA Network Open.

Somnologist Diana Noga and her colleagues decided to conduct their tests, as a result of which they came to the conclusion that although a person’s diet has an effect on reducing the likelihood of developing diabetes, it cannot be called significant. The main criterion is still the amount of sleep.

Thus, scientists have determined that people who sleep only three to five hours a day significantly harm their health and actually push themselves into the hands of a dangerous disease called diabetes. Sleep experts noted that the minimum time for healthy sleep is six hours a day.

Previously, doctor Glomado told how to cure snoring.
