Lack of Sleep and Fatigue Increase Your Risk of Contracting Covid-19

In a study conducted July-September 2020 and applied to BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health, researchers studied 2,800 health workers in six countries who claim to be at high risk of contracting Covid-19.

Participants were asked questions about sleep habits, including napping and other severe sleep problems, as well as fatigue levels. In the end, the researchers concluded that an additional 1 hour of sleep could reduce the risk of getting Covid-19 by 12 percent.

Lack of sleep affects the immune system, making it easier for people to become sick and infected with viruses. This study is claimed to be the first to link sleep deprivation and fatigue with the risk of Covid-19.

“In six countries, sleeping time is associated with a lower risk of contracting Covid-19. “Sleep problems and acute fatigue increase the risk of exposure to Covid-19,” explained the researcher Foxnews.

“Our results confirm the importance of maintaining health for health workers during the pandemic. Concern for these two risk factors will help maintain health and productive performance,” he added.
