Lack of parts conjures up with new car registration statistics. For the first time, Kia is the third best-selling brand in the Czech Republic

Used imports increased by more than 50% year-on-year, due to missing new cars.

The long delay in the delivery of ordered cars to customers due to the lack of parts significantly mixes with the positions on the Czech market of new cars. For the first time in history, the Korean Kia was among the top three best-selling brands, while the second or third Volkswagen fell to fifth place for a long time.

It follows from those published today statistics on new vehicle registrations of the Association of Car Importers. Although they show a significant jump in the number of newly registered cars compared to October (16,174 out of 12,780 in October), this volume is still about a fifth lower than the normal volume of new cars in 2019.

“Although this year’s total car registrations slightly exceeded last year’s results, they are far from reaching the values of 2019, “States in the SDA report.

Despite the large year-on-year decline, Škoda Auto continues to dominate the Czech market, but three Asian brands met in three other places: Hyundai, Kia and Toyota. For Kiu, this is the best result in history on the domestic market. The Ceed model provided more than half of the registrations.

Currently, not only the actual demand of customers, but mainly whether the car is available at all, currently determines the order of brands at registrations. Kia, like other Asian brands, is not facing the same supply of parts as some European automakers. Only in fifth place is Volkswagen, which otherwise holds long-term second place.

During November, the Škoda Octavia returned to the post of domestic number one in the order of individual models ahead of the Fabia. In terms of fuel, gasoline leads with 68.33%, the share of diesel fell to 24.67%. Registrations of cars with alternative propulsion are almost double this year compared to last year (25,545 vs. 14,878). The number of registered electric cars increased by 10% (from 2,103 to 2,313). Plug-in hybrid cars increased by 112% year-on-year (from 1,616 to 3,427 units).

The lack of new cars on the market increases the pressure on used imports from abroad. In recent months, the number of imported used cars has exceeded the registration of new cars. In November it was 17,492 vehicles, a jump of 52% compared to last October. The share of vehicles older than 10 years is 50.99%, older than 15 years is 21.21%.
