PMJ NEWS – Vitamin B12 and iron are two of the main nutrients in the formation of healthy red blood cells. These nutrients play an important role in the prevention of various diseases that result from blood deficiency.
Iron deficiency can cause anemia due to excessive blood loss. Even a study reveals that iron deficiency anemia can increase a person’s chances of suffering from depression.
Due to iron deficiency, the amount of serotonin in the body can reach a low point. Serotonin is an important neurotransmitter and mood stabilizer.
Cognitive impairment, sadness, dyspnea, loss of postural hypotension, muscle weakness, and mental and physical fatigue are some of the most characteristic indications and symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency.
However, it is difficult to interpret symptoms accurately because vitamin B12 deficiency can develop even when blood levels are above the clinical threshold for deficiency.
With advancing age, pregnancy, chronic disease and the use of some medications, the daily requirement for vitamin B12 increases. Therefore, a daily consumption of 4-20 grams is recommended to prevent vitamin B12 deficiency.
Vikas Chawla as Ayurveda expert, Vedas Cure said that iron is necessary for brain function which can affect psychological behavior.
This means that when individuals have low levels of iron, it can increase their risk of developing a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression.
“Anxiety is a symptom of anemia,” Vikas Chawla said as quoted by the Times Of India page, Sunday (26/12/2022).
“Anemia puts a lot of stress on the body, and as a result, the brain often receives signals to become more anxious and confused.”
