Director of Public Nutrition, Ministry of Health, RI, Dr. Dhian P. Dipo, said that efforts to prevent anemia are closely related to the intake of food consumed every day. Susenas data from 2015 to 2019 shows an improvement in the consumption pattern of the population, in which there is an increase in people’s energy and protein intake.
Nationally, the average consumption of energy and protein is above the standard of nutritional adequacy. However, improvements in daily consumption patterns still need to be improved and the tendency to consume health risky foods such as foods high in sugar, salt and fat increases and only 1 in 10 Indonesians consume enough. vegetables and fruits.
“Fruits and vegetables contribute vitamins and minerals which are essential for smooth functioning of the body, maintaining immunity, and of course also keeping the body healthy without anemia. This condition shows that our daily consumption is still not nutritionally balanced,” said Dhian.

“I really appreciate the activities of teenagers who contribute to improving nutrition. Hopefully this good knowledge and activities can be transmitted to family, friends, and the community for the creation of an Indonesian generation free of nutritional problems and progress,” he said.
Engineer of the Center for Agroindustrial Technology, Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Dr. Noer Laily, stated that adolescents experience micronutrient nutrition problems due to a number of factors. These factors are lack of awareness of the fulfillment of nutrition among young women, lack of awareness to adopt a balanced nutrition diet, low consumption of vegetables and fruit, insufficient animal protein intake, and lack of physical activity. In fact, more than 50 percent of cases of anemia are caused by low iron absorption.
“BPPT produces complementary food innovations to complement nutritional intake to help prevent it anemia. This side dish is Purula, “said Noer.
He explained that Purula contains soy hydrolyzate (biopeptide), which functions to increase iron absorption in the blood. As is well known, iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 play a role in the formation of red blood cells and seaweed which is rich in flavor, dietary fiber and minerals.
“The results of the efficacy test show that consumption of Purula can significantly increase serum ferritin levels and iron absorption,” said Noer.
