JAKARTA – In the midst of a chipset crisis, Sony strives to keep making consoles PlayStation 5 despite having to lower its production forecast.
Previously, Sony had targeted to assemble 16 million units between April 2021 and March 2022, but that figure is now reported to be around 15 million units.
Quoted from The Verge, Thursday (11/11/2021), Sony is said to be experiencing problems with logistics as well as component supply due to an unprecedented chip crisis.

The Bloomberg report said that component deliveries were not always on time and the pandemic disrupted production.
Sony has estimated it can sell PS5 for the financial year starting in April 2022 as many as 22.6 million units. But its manufacturing partners are reportedly struggling to meet that target.
In addition to Sony, earlier this month Nintendo also cut its Switch sales forecast by 1.5 million due to a component shortage. Valve’s Steam Deck handheld PC has just been delayed by two months for the same reason.
