The course of the match

Just two minutes later, Arsenal almost conceded a defensive error which was their main disease last season. Ainsley Maitland-Niles pass to Bernd Leno is released by Gabriel Magalhaes, but Neeskens Kebano is not too far away and chases the ball.

Kebano gets the ball, but Leno is quick to react and blocks with his hand. Gabriel then secures the situation.

Arsenal tried to play from behind, while Fulham pushed back quite aggressively. The host even returned to spread threats in the seventh minute.

Denis Odoi stabs from the right, cuts to the middle, then opens a shot. The experiment is still relatively easy for Leno to secure.

GOAL! Arsenal responded immediately with a goal in the 9th minute. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang received a through ball on the left, then fired a bait that Granit Xhaka tried to grab.

Even though Xhaka failed to shoot perfectly, the ball headed towards the goal and hit Tim Ream’s leg. Willian grabbed a wild ball and hit the keeper. Nearby Alexandre Lacazette did not miss another chance and threw the ball into the net.

Arsenal tried to attack from wide of the field, but a series of crosses did not produce good results.

Arsenal almost extended the lead in the 27th minute from a free kick. Facing the ball in front of the Fulham penalty box, Willian’s execution leads to the bottom left corner but only hits the post.

Good chance from Arsenal in the 37th minute. Kieran Tierney played a through ball behind the Fulham line and was accepted by Aubameyang. Aubameyang tries to finish from a tight angle but the goalkeeper can still be cleared.

Arsenal launched another pressure from the left side. Maitland-Niles’s cross looked tempting, it just failed to be maximized by Lacazette at the far post.
