Simona Rača-Rūce, Jānis Rūcis and Roberts Dinters, with the participation of other Austrian children and cellist Marta Rozentālei, will release the music album “Labums” at the beginning of 2024, in which nine songs of the composer Imantas Kalniņas can be heard. The presentation concert will take place on Friday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in the Berči Hall of the “Romas dārzs” art gallery, Inese Muižniece, the project manager of “Austras biedribės”, informed.

The song album “Labums” is a tribute and at the same time thanks to the legendary singer Austra Pumpurei. The choice of songs included in “Labuma” and the manner of their performance were determined by the range of inspiration and feelings gained during the lessons with Austra. The recording was made as if in the living room, personally and in simple sincerity.

“In terms of sound engineering, it’s a bit experimental, but from time to time such albums are also heard. There are relatively many recordings of Imanta Kalniņas’ songs. We followed the feelings of Austria and Austrian children,” comments guitarist Roberts Dinter. On the other hand, singer Simona Rača-Rūce says: “For me, this is an adventure and letting go to do and be who we are.”

“Austra Budure once told us that “we should sing like friends on their birthday. And you will sing for them from your heart and as well as you can, right?” This “Labums” is exactly about that. The truth never disappoints, and the songs are alive,” shared the feelings of Inese Muižniece, producer of the record and Austrasberns.

The album of songs was realized by three children of Austrasbärni – students and associates of Austra Budura from Liepāja. Simona Rača-Rūce and Jānis Rūcis are the ones who are currently continuing the work of Austria, calling together the Children of Austria and creating concert programs with which they occasionally visit various cities and regions of Latvia. On the other hand, Roberts Dinter is born in Austria and a professional guitarist who can often be heard on the “big stage”, making music together with Ivo Fomin, Karina Tatarinova and other artists.

“Labuma” includes nine songs by Imants Kalniņš: “Shonakt sapnī” (text: Imants Ziedonis), “Bāka” (t. Māris Čaklais), “Tāpat vien” (t. Valdis Rūmnieks), “Sveces song” (t. Imants Ziedonis ), “Mīlas dziesmiņa” (t. Maija Līcīte), “What is the right hand to the left” (t. M. Tsvetajeva, rep. Ojārs Vācietis), “When the winds climb the mountains” (t. Knuts Skujenieks), “Blues” ( t. Māris Čaklais) and “Let’s wash our legs” (t. Knuts Skujenieks).

The music track will be available on music streaming sites and in a relatively small number also on tangible CD format. The songs were recorded in Liepaja, it was done by Roberts Dinters, and post-processing by Jānis Narbuts. The album was released with the financial support of the Liepāja Culture Board. Producer of the recording – “Austras biedrība”.

Admission to the concert is by donation.
