– I do not support violence, neither as a politician nor as a private person. Violence breeds more violence, and Will Smith could solve this in many ways. He chose the worst way he could have chosen, and he regrets it, says city council representative Aden to Avisa Oslo.
The reason for Avisa Oslo’s contact was the following Facebook post from the full-time politician and Oslo Ap’s faction leader in the culture and education committee:
«I would have knocked the chicken out of him and then divorced him if he just sat there and didn’t react. Who the hell needs a husband with no balls. Well done Will Smith».
When one of the people in Aden’s own comment field cast doubt that Aden means what she writes, the Labor politician replied:
«Big one. Someone has to teach him a boundaries».
Call the post a joke
To Avisa Oslo, Aden calls the post a joke. However, the joke is not aimed at people who defend Will Smith’s use of violence, but at people who downplay the illness of Jada Pinkett Smith, she tells AO.
– My comment was directed at those who believe that Chris and Will must fix this, that they must not let women come between them and they did not take into account that he defended his wife and family. This group thinks he should not defend her at all because she is a woman. It made me angry, says Aden to Avisa Oslo.
Following the newspaper’s contact, Ubah Aden has deleted the post. In a new post she writes:
“Throughout my adult life, I have personally fought against all kinds of violence and abuse. Regarding this specific pop culture issue, I absolutely agree that this could have been handled in other ways. My comment was specifically directed at another FB post where it was said that Will should not have “protected” Jada who shortly before the incident came out and talked about her “struggles” with alopecia. “
“I think it is important to stand up for near and far. It is important to protect the people around you. But this should be done without using violence! In the same way, I think it is important not to use humor to not mock the medical condition of others. All in all, it’s just waiting for Chris Rock’s next stand up comedy special about Will and Jada »concludes Ubah Aden.
Beat Chris Rock
The post comes the day after tonight’s Oscars. There, actor and Oscar winner Will Smith beat comedian Chris Rock, after the latter had joked with Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
Rock joked that he would like to see a sequel to “GI Jane”, where Pinkett Smith was clean-shaven. This at a time when Jada Pinkett Smith has short hair due to the disease alopecia, which causes her hair to fall out.

Smith’s violent behavior has provoked reactions, including from the Oscar academy, but Aden writes in the comments section that she believes what Will Smith did was “setting boundaries”.
Aden’s post has caused more people to react. Before the post was deleted, it had received over 70 comments, and several are wondering if the Labor politician Aden means what she writes.
– I try to interpret you in the best sense here, and getting angry can be an expression that someone has stepped over your boundaries, but when you hit you have also stepped far over others’ boundaries. In fact, it’s better for children to hit than for adults to do so. Violence is not setting boundaries, comments Oslo Rødt group leader Evenrud.
– Physical attacks on comedians are now something to clap for? Really? Can we start clinging to each other during debates at Kulturhuset if we also feel supported, writes the public debater Espen Goffeng.
– Just nonsense
– It’s just nonsense, however, says Ubah Aden when Avisa Oslo makes contact.
Aden also says that of course she would not beat Will Smith if she was Jada Pinkett Smith and he sat there and did nothing while Chris Rock joked about her illness. But she had liked it badly.
Aden also believes that those who believe that Will Smith should not have done anything downplay the dignity of women.
– We must understand what is the basis for this episode. Comedians can not joke about anything, they have to pay attention to people’s privacy, and although this situation is very ugly, comedians have to think twice before saying what they say, says Ubah Aden.
– At the same time: Is there no difference between joking about something on a stage and making a comment when you meet someone on the street?
– For me, there are some things you have to respect, Ubah Aden answers.
