If there is one region where major projects are legion, it is Île-de-France (IDF). Between the construction of the Grand Paris Express (GPE) metro lines and the construction of sports facilities for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (OJ), companies have plenty to do… and so do the Labor Inspectorate services.
During a press conference devoted to its 2022 results and its 2023 outlook, the Drieets-IDF (Regional and interdepartmental directorate for the economy, employment, labor and solidarity) went into more detail about its prevention, control and sanction actions. Because the approximately 400 agents of the Ile-de-France management of the Labor Inspectorate have not been idle last year.
A quarter of the interventions concern the construction industry
They carried out around 40,100 interventions – out of a total of 237,400 throughout the country -, including 10,200 on construction sites, with 4,700 actions to prevent the risk of falls from height. A thousand investigations were also carried out on site following serious or fatal work accidents, while 500 decisions to stop work were pronounced, mainly when employees were exposed to falls from a height.
The other reasons for interventions relate to the posting of workers (2,480), asbestos (1,245), “major” risk companies such as mines and quarries (77), Covid (2,322), partial activity fraud (770) or even targeted actions with small and medium-sized enterprises (726). The fight against illicit work totaled 5,800 checks in 2022, with some trends more marked than others.
