Labels are winning over private schools: quality assurance or a marketing argument?

In recent years, labels have continued to grow in Switzerland. They have spread to all economic sectors and do not spare the field of education, which now has certification tools specifically intended for it: Quality School Certification (QSC), Swiss School Impulse, EduQua, ISO 21001 , Eco-Schools, E3D, Lab School in Positive Discipline… But what do they really attest?

Why are we talking about it. End of March 2021, Time listed 66 private schools in French-speaking Switzerland – members of the Swiss Federation of Private Schools (FSEP) – for primary and secondary levels. In Geneva, the rate of children enrolled in a private establishment is the highest in Switzerland and stood at 15.6% in 2019/20, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Figures that justify wondering about the seriousness of the promises of these labels.
