La Rinconada Municipal Election Results 2023: PSOE Dominates with 70.79% of Votes

With 100% scrutinized, the municipality of La Rinconada has obtained very similar results to the 2019 elections. The PSOE is once again the first force by far. The Socialists repeat 16 councilors by obtaining 70.79% of the votes (12,191 votes).

The second party is the PP with two councilors, getting 1,951 votes (11.32%). They are followed by Andalusia with 2 councilors (1,676 votes and 9.7%) and Vox with one representative (1,140 votes and 6.62%).

Nearly 31,000 people have exercised their right to vote this Sunday in La Rinconada in municipal elections from which the 21 councilors that make up the local corporation have emerged. Hence, the absolute majority is situated in the 11 mayors.

In La Rinconada, the PSOE candidacy, headed by Francisco Javier Fernández de los Río as mayor of the town since 2007 and aspiring to revalidate the position; that of Vox, with Amador Manuel Martínez García, that of the PP, with Joana Moreno Morata; and, With Andalusia: Izquierda Unida-Podemos, with Francisco Ignacio Ruiz González.

In the last municipal elections, in 2019, the voters were 29,892 and they managed to make history. More than 40% of them, in round terms, 12,195 residents to be exact, voted for the PSOE, which won 16 councillors. Far behind was IULV-CA with two councilors (8.78%) and Podemos (5.92%). Ciudadanos (5.27%) and PP (5.07%), obtained one each.

Regarding participation, it remained below 60%. Specifically in 58.51%. This figure is, however, two points more than that reached in the 2015 elections, when it was 56.33%. However, despite this, it is an average percentage for the large number of voters registered in the Sevillian town with the right to vote. Four years ago, the 50 polling stations distributed by the schools and centers selected for it in the municipality, registered 17,490 votes, almost a thousand more than four years before (16,400 votes). Among all, there were 139 invalid votes (0.79%) and 120 blank votes (0.69%).

Doing a bit of history, La Rinconada is a clear example of a socialist stronghold in the province of Seville. From 1987 to the present, the Socialists have a total of 36 years of socialist mandate out of the 44 years of life that Spanish democracy has. There is another peculiarity, the party has always governed with an absolute majority.
