The Real preserves the sixth positionn of the league alone. Betis’ draw in the Seville derby against Sevilla allows the Txuri-Urdin team to retain a place that would allow them to compete in the Europa League next season. The royalists, with 51 points, now have only two points less than the Betis, which are seventh with 49.
The Andalusian derby played yesterday at the Benito Villamarín between Betis and Sevilla ended with a 1-1 draw after an intense and balanced match, in which the visitors defended themselves well and the locals did not know how to overcome that device.
Betis goes ahead
A penalty goal converted by Isco Alarcón in the 38th minute put Betis ahead at half-timebut a header from Kike Salas in the 56th minute, shortly after entering the field, restored the tie to a score that did not move again until the end of the match.
The next day, Real will have to face Unión Deportiva Las Palmas on Saturday (2:00 p.m.).
