Yesterday, Thursday, November 23, in the afternoon, thirteen nucieras demonstrated their solidarity by donating blood at the El Cirer Social Hall. The 17th blood drive of the year had 13 donors presented, of which 11 were suitable for blood donation. The campaign of the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community “Donate Blood, Save 3 Lives” and #HazteDonanter #ShareLife is reinforced by the La Nucía City Council and for the last three years two monthly collections have been carried out in La Nucía, given the great increase in supportive donors in the population. Blood needed in hospitals

It must be remembered that blood cannot be manufactured and that the only way to obtain it is through “solidarity, voluntary and altruistic donation.” It is estimated that the province of Alicante needs 250 donations daily, which is what the hospitals in the province use globally each day for operations, oncological treatments, transfusions, etc. so any help is little. In addition, blood has an expiration date, so donations are always needed so that reserves remain at acceptable levels.

Requirements

The general requirements to donate blood are to be over 18 years old and under 65 years old and weigh more than 50 kilos.. It is essential to drink plenty and eat before donating blood and you can donate even if you have high cholesterol. Each adult can donate blood 4 times a year for men and 3 times for women.

To donate blood, it is not necessary to pre-register, so new donors can go directly to the next collection in La Nucía on Thursday, December 7, in the afternoon at the El Cirer Social Hall.
