The representative of the Association of Insured of the Social Welfare Institute (IPS), Eduardo Aguayo, said that there are strong suspicions that the loans acquired by the Vicente Bataglia administration for payment to suppliers of inputs and medicines were finally used by the abdismo to pay for the past internal party elections.
“We are facing an announced chronicle, because this since last year we said that a scam was coming because these loans would really end up enlarging the set of embezzlements that take place within the pension and that not only involve those who are inside of the Board of Directors, but also a large part of the business community that parasitizes the pension along with the political authors who have been the promoters of this law,” Samaniego said in an interview with the “Info+” newscast, broadcast by the GEN/Nación channel Half.
Aguayo’s statements arose from the refusal of the Social Welfare Institute (IPS) to provide the Comptroller General of the Republic with all the documentation on the payment of the debt to pharmaceutical companies, which is executed thanks to the US$ 250 million loan that It was authorized by the National Congress. The comptroller entity presented a judicial measure this past Wednesday and Judge José Guillermo Trovato Fleitas was appointed to define the actions against the pension.
The excuse for the assignment of the loan was the alleged imminent shortage of medicines, however, the pension has already begun to execute the money and the drugs and supplies are still lacking. According to the statements of the representative of the insured, the money would have finally been used for the internal political campaign of the Fuerza Republicana movement, led by the president Mario Abdo Benítez, a former candidate for the Colorado Party.
“The suspicions first start from antecedents that are many. There are too many elements to assume that what happened with these loans was to swell the pockets of those who have always benefited from the pension negotiations, which is why there is still no substantial change. We also have suspicions that a large part of this money went to swell the electoral circuit that was seen in the last inmates, this tried to benefit the ruling party, ”he sentenced.

He also pointed out that the refusal of the Bataglia administration to send the documents only highlights the need to hide situations of irregularity regarding the use of pension resources.
“It is not possible to explain how if the payments are already being made and it is still possible that there is not a sufficient quantity of medicines to provide the insured. The reluctance that exists from the institution not to send the documentation that makes the origin of the debt to the Comptroller only shows that there is something to hide, ”he said.
Aguayo even described the conflict as an unprecedented event because on several occasions the IPS was already summoned by the Comptroller’s Office, however, from the institution they only devoted themselves to submitting inconclusive or partial reports to extend the period to grant a final response and avoid that the constitutionally empowered body can intervene by conducting an audit and, in the event of irregularities, finally remitting them to the Public Ministry.
