The logistics capacity is assured and guaranteed for the storage and transfer of the one million doses donated by the United States. It is proposed to declare a holiday to advance in the vaccination process.

The Aratirí racetrack is expected to have an application capacity of 1,600 vaccines per hour, to which are also added the vaccination venues on the waterfront and in the National Sports Secretariat (SND). The idea is to declare a two-day holiday, which would allow advancing the vaccination of some 400 to 500 thousand people in five days.

“The announcement is the success of the planning started by Chancellor Euclides Acevedo, when he summoned me and the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), in which there was an important political decision,” said the businessman in contact with the GEN channel.

The urgent need to acquire the Pfizer doses allowed the Government to close the agreement with the firm Pfizer, the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world, in 45 days; in order to have the provision of one million vaccines in weekly shipments, according to the purchase contract. This also made it easier for the US to decide to donate another one million doses to our country, which are expected for the fortnight of July.

“The cold chain storage and preservation capacity is fully guaranteed, there is no unforeseen or lack of capacity,” said Harrison. All the requirements given to store them below 70 degrees are met, also with the primary containers in which the Pfizers arrive to be stored for at least 30 days, and 200 boxes for their transportation.

It is also noted that the staff in white are trained, taking into account what the logistics chain implies, since the vaccines are frozen and from there they are stored in freezers, which have a shelf life of six months. Thawed at 2 to 8 degrees they have a shelf life of 30 days, when diluted in the vaccination centers for use they must be applied within 6 hours.

“The process has been trained for more than 40 days; The logistics chain is guaranteed, the vaccination capacity that is available is 30 thousand daily doses. That is why it was proposed to accelerate the plan, with the extension of hours and take advantage of the available doses, thus starting a massive campaign and tripling the capacity ”, he pointed out.
