La Nación / Due to a parking dispute, a man threatens another with a gun on public roads

An alleged act of femicide was registered this morning in the district of San Juan Nepomuceno. A 66-year-old woman was shot to death by her husband, who was arrested after the event. The man denied ending the woman’s life.

The event occurred around 8:00 this Saturday in a family home located on Fulgencio Yegros streets at the corner of Lázaro de Rivera and Mariscal Estigarribia, Central neighborhood of the aforementioned city in the department of Caazapá.

The victim of this new case was identified as Lidia Anikini de Pereira, a Paraguayan, married and retired teacher. The woman suffered two gunshot wounds: one to the chest, left side and another to the temple, both with entry and exit holes. From the scene of the crime, a revolver-type firearm, 38 mm caliber, of the Smith & Wesson brand, was raised, with four vanillas served and two without firing, according to the police report of the 3rd Police Station.

Police officers from the aforementioned police unit learned of the incident as a result of a telephone call from a neighbor. When they went to the scene, they found the victim lying on the ground in a supine position, with injuries and no longer any signs of life. Beside him lay the firearm. Immediately, the interveners gave participation to the fiscal unit on duty, the forensic doctor and Criminalistics personnel.

Mr. Arístides Pereira Retamozo, a retired police officer, the victim’s husband, was also in the home, who stated that at 6:45 this Saturday he found his wife without signs of life, for which he gave notice to his son-in-law to contact the police.

An hour later, César López, the prosecutor’s assistant, arrived, accompanied by the forensic doctor Evangelista Perdomo and Criminalistics personnel, who inspected the deceased and took fingerprint samples from both the victim and his alleged perpetrator.

The coroner, meanwhile, diagnosed hypovolemic shock produced by gunshots as the cause of death. After the rigorous work, the woman’s body was handed over to her relatives. While the alleged femicide was deprived of his liberty and transferred to the police station in question.
