La Nación / Blackouts: Ande reported that the 500 kv Ayolas-Villa Hayes line was out of service

According to a statement from the National Electricity Administration (Ande) issued on networks, the cause was due to the fact that the 500 kv Ayolas-Villa Hayes Transmission Line was out of service, affecting the entire country.

Since approximately 2:52 p.m., users from all over the country reported that there were problems with the provision of electricity with low voltage and widespread blackouts. In areas of Asunción they indicated that there was low voltage, while in the area of ​​Greater Asunción and the interior there were successive cuts with the supply.

There were blackouts in the main neighborhoods of Asunción, while in general the neighborhoods of Luque, Limpio, San Lorenzo, Capiatá, Areguá and other points in the Central department were left totally without power.

Likewise, there was an interruption in the supply of electricity in the main cities of Alto Paraná, Caaguazú, Amambay, Altos, among other departments. A few minutes ago, from the Ande they released a press release and reported that the problem occurred due to failures in the 500 kv Ayolas-Villa Hayes Transmission Line, affecting a large part of the country.

From the Andes they reported, after 4:00 p.m., that 90% of the affected areas have already normalized, leaving still pending the areas fed from the substations Villa Hayes, Puerto Botanico, Mburukuyá, Villa Aurelia, Parque Caballero and Mariano Roque Alonso.

However, they added that officials from the technical area they are evaluating the reason for the event and they added that as soon as more data is available, it will be announced through a new letter from the state company.

In view of the power outage, they also began reporting failures in the traffic lights in different busy arteries of the Capital, which caused chaos in traffic. Motorists from Asunción and Greater Asunción reported on the situation through social networks.

From the Transit Directorate of the Municipality of Asunción they affirmed through their social networks that the agents are directing traffic on Eusebio Ayala avenue and Choferes del Chacopoints where the traffic jam was felt most strongly.
