These projects aim to improve the quality of life, especially with resolutely green and peaceful public spaces. Responding to environmental and social issues, they will make it possible to welcome new residents and new businesses in a principle of balance in the metropolitan area.
During the last metropolitan council held earlier this week, Greater Lyon voted for four major urban development projects in Villeurbanne and Bron.
The redevelopment from ACI industrial site
We were already interested in the first project, which concerns the former ACI factories in Villeurbanne. The site that used to belong to Renault will host a new urban district, mixed, vegetated and connected to the T6 Nord tram. It will house a 2.6-hectare park which will be the future green lung of the city. This real estate project results in the development of social housing, students, solidarity tenancy, shops and offices which will encourage social diversity.
The redevelopment of Place Grandclément
Villeurbanne’s second project is none other than the redevelopment of the Grand Place Grandclément. It aims to give an important place to the plant, to fluidify and soothe mobility. This project fits into the urban dynamics of the district, transforming the square into a real place of life and reinforcing its centrality, making traffic more fluid and providing quality and better mobility.
The redevelopment project of the Genêts-Kimmerling sector
In Bron, a construction program of approximately 24,000 m² is planned in the Genêts-Kimmerling sector, with a budget of 5.6 million euros. For this sector, initially occupied by industrial and commercial activities, axes of urban public transport, social housing and cycle paths are envisaged.
Not far away, the urban development project in the Parilly district will make it possible to diversify the housing offer and to expand the perimeter of the ZAC. It includes the creation of an integrative park, a quiet neighborhood that promotes mobility and accessibility, an enhanced housing program and the renewal of public facilities.
